Our Night With Kiefer Sutherland

Saturday night, April 23, 2016, was an event to be remembered and cherished. My fiancé and I attended an intimate gathering at the Taft Theatre, downtown Cincinnati. Our main attraction was the Kiefer Sutherland Band? Yes, you read that correctly. As a world renowned actor, Kiefer Sutherland has delighted our silver screens and televisions alike, with some of the best performances. Let’s go over a few of those shall we? 24, The Lost Boys, Forsaken, Touch, Pompeii, Young Guns, The Cowboy Way, 1969, and a few of my personal favorites, Bright Lights-Big City, Flatliners, and Crazy Moon. But now, his future has taken a not-so-unexpected turn. If you’re engaged in Kiefer fandom, it really shouldn’t be any surprise that he has been involved with music for a while. He and a friend started their own indie record label known as Ironworks. Artists such as Rocco DeLuca & The Burden, HoneyHoney, and Lifehouse. Kiefer is now the front-man for the Kiefer Sutherland Band, aligning himself with talented bandmates. For me, his folk-country style of melodies are exactly what will bring back my excitement for music.

My fiancé is from a small town in Indiana, so Kiefer’s tour stop in the Queen City was her first real show. And what a performance it turned out to be for both of us. The stories he told before playing their original songs were refreshing; subjects ranging from his father, his love of music as a child, helping a young Marine at a bar in Los Angeles, to drinking and spending a couple of nights in the county lockup. I took tons of photos and shot videos that I haven’t stopped watching since that night. The Jack Bauer character was an intimidating Phenom. But he was just that, a character. This event that Kiefer is embarking on, is not just something to add to his already filled celebrity resume; it’s finally the man he wanted to be.

Look for the Kiefer Sutherland Band‘s debut CD, Down In A Hole, this coming summer and embark on a path of amazing music during their “Not Enough Whiskey Tour”, hopefully coming to your town.
